Moscow restaurant guide

Restaurant: Cafe Pushkin

Address: 26a Tverskoi Bulvar, 1st floor
Metro: Pushkinskaya
Phone: 629 5590/ 9411

Average cost: $30-50
Cuisine: Russian
Services: Reservations recommended

Noon - midnight.

A guaranteed guest-pleaser. Four floors of increasing luxury (and price), although the ground level is already lavishly grand. Classic Franco-Russian dishes populate the menu, including borscht and an excellent trout stuffed with asparagus mousse. Avoid the stroganoff, though, which comes in a canteen-like partitioned tray and far too much cream. Best to make a reservation, particularly in the summer, or you could end up waiting at the bar for over a hour.
