By Natalia Shuvalova

The annual horse dressage competition among the best Russian horse-riders took place in the Otrandnoe horse-sports complex (August 31 – September 2). The tournament Grand-prize of $5000 went to Anna Ivanova on the horse Royal Black Label (the total prize fund being $30,000). On the last day the guests, who were mostly Russian celebrities (couturiers Vladimir Zaitsev and Andrey Sharov, TV host Ekaterina Strizhonova, politician Gennady Seleznev, ballet stars Anris and Ilze Liepa, et al) enjoyed a great, entertaining program. It included two exhibitions. One was a series of photo-portraits “Faces of Russia” by Yadran Shetlik. All of the faces were very famous and easy to recognize (some were among the guests). The other was paintings by the popular contemporary artist Konstantin Batynkov. Besides, guests enjoyed a fashion show in which mini-horses wore specially-designed horse clothes. Those who wore hats that day (people, not horses) – had a chance to win a stay in the best room of the fashionable “Otradnoe” Park-Hotel.
