Ðóññêèé ÿçûê
How to say: I don’t have (much more useful than ‘I have’!)
Prepared with the help of Ruslingua
Ó ìåíÿ íåò...
Now the problem with this construction, is that íåò requires the following word to be in the genitive case. We’ve highlighted the basic singular endings, but this is not supposed to be a grammar lesson so you’ll need to look the rest up if you’re interested.
Lack of basic items (feminine): ó ìåíÿ íåò… … ðó÷êè (a pen) … çàæèãàëêè (a lighter) … êðåäèòíîé êàðòû (a credit card) … ñäà÷è (change)
and some masculine ones: ó ìåíÿ íåò… … ïëàòî÷êà (a tissue) … ñ ñîáîé ïàñïîðòà (my passport with me) … åãî íîìåðà òåëåôîíà (his phone number) … ñ ñîáîé çîíòà (an umbrella with me) … òî÷íîãî àäðåñà (the exact address) … äëÿ íå¸ ïîäàðêà íà äåíü ðîæäåíèÿ (a birthday present for her)
Material goods that may be lacking: ó ìåíÿ íåò… … î÷êîâ (my glasses) … ÷àñîâ (my watch) … äåíåã íà òåëåôîíå (any money on my phone) … êëþ÷åé îò îôèñà (the keys to the office) … ðàçðåøåíèÿ íà ðàáîòó (a work permit)
and some figurative ones: ó ìåíÿ íåò… … âðåìåíè (time) … íà íåãî âðåìåíè (time for him) … ñèë, ÿ ñëèøêîì óñòàë (the energy, I’m too tired) … ê âàì âîïðîñîâ (any questions for you) … âîçìîæíîñòè ïîçâîíèòü òåáå ñåãîäíÿ (the chance to call you today) … íàñòðîåíèÿ ýòî äåëàòü (I’m not in the mood to do that) … íè ìàëåéøåãî ïðåäñòàâëåíèÿ (the slightest idea)
