The 8th Annual AmCham Golf Tournament

Twenty-six teams enjoyed sunny skies and mild temperatures on July 29 as they competed for top honors at the 8th Annual AmCham Golf Tournament sponsored by BMW Russland Trading and held at the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club. The four-man team (Peter O’Brian, John Wallace, Martin Wiewiorowski, Eric Zimmerman) from DeGolyer and MacNaughton bested the competition and claimed 2005’s title. $4,100 was raised through the sale of mulligans. The proceeds are being donated to Diema’s Dream (www.diemasdream.com), an NGO working with disabled Russian orphans.
The Cadillac Russian Open 2005
156 golf players from 24 countries and 5000 spectators participated in the Cadillac Russian Open golf tournament presented by Vneshtorgbank. The tournament was held from August 10 to 14 at the country’s only 18-hole golf course in Le Meridien Moscow Country Club. David Carradine and Yevgeny Kafelnikov participated in the Pro AM on August 10th in which TransTeleCom company was the title partner. Expectations of an exciting game were fulfilled at the final round of competition on August 14th. Mikael Lundberg of Sweden overcame England’s Andrew Butterfield after a thrilling four hole sudden-death play-off at the dual ranking. The winner was awarded the top prize of $83,330 as well as a potentially priceless one year exemption to the 2006 European Tour International Schedule. Andrew Butterfield received $55,550. Don Stroy company presented the best professional Russian golfer, Grigory Bondarenko, with a discount on the purchase of an apartment. This year’s total prize money amounted to $500,000. Next year the event becomes a full part of the European Tour.
