Rhymes For Children
Lisa: “For the summer, we have two more humorous rhymes for you to learn with your children. Both will appeal to youngsters’ sense of the comically absurd. Both poems go well with visual aids, like a brown paper bag and ticking small children. I am a bit worried about that spider which looks anything but 'incy-wincy' to me!”

Birds, Bears & Buns - Beware!

By Christopher Isherwood

Incy Wincy Spider

The common cormorant or shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag;
The reason you will see no doubt
It is to keep the lightning out.

But what these unobservant birds
Have never noticed is that herds
Of wandering bears may come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.

Incy Wincy spider
Climbing up the spout;
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out.

O ut came the sunshine
Dried up all the rain;
Incy Wincy spider
Climbed the spout again.
