Playing Poker for Kids
On November 20, the Poker House, located at 93 Prospekt Mira, hosted the first Kidsave Charity Poker Tournament. Guests at the event included 20 gambling men and women, whose task it was to decide when to hold ‘em and when to fold‘em in each round of poker. In addition to some good old-fashioned card-playing, there was also a silent wine auction. A highlight of the evening was a tasting of Sardinian wines, which were decanted into wine glasses painted by orphaned children who participate in Kidsave’s Family Placement Program. By night’s end, nearly $18,000 had been raised to support Kidsave’s activities in Russia, such as its programs for children living in foster care and orphanages.
